Pam Orals, Music
Mrs. Orals has been teaching K-8 music since 1991. She earned a B.S. in Music Education from the University of Illinois Champaign/Urbana, a M.S. in Music Education from Northwestern University, and holds Level I and Level II certificates in the Orff Schulwerk method of teaching music. Pam maintained a private piano studio for many years and performs frequently as an accompanist. Pam and her husband live in Lake Zurich with their twin high-schoolers and a big, fluffy white dog.

Half Day School
Nancy Fencl, Band, Music
Mrs. Fencl teaches 5th grade band and General Music. She has been a music teacher for over 30 years, mostly at Daniel Wright Junior High School where she taught 5th Grade General Music and 5-8 Band. She earned a Bachelors in Music Education from Western Illinois University and recently completed her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University-Chicago. Mrs. Fencl and her husband live in Riverwoods with her 3 cats now that her 3 children are grown. She is an avid bicyclist and gardener as well as principal flute in the Waukegan Symphony Orchestra.

Ashley Smidt, Music, Chorus
Mrs. Smidt has been teaching General Music and Chorus since 2006. This is her fourth year at Half Day School. She earned a Bachelors in Music Education from Kent State University, a Masters in Special Education from Dominican University, and is Orff-Schulwerk Certified a method for teaching music. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her husband and cats, Sunny and Midnight, playing the flute, running, and painting.

Steve Turini, Orchestra
Mr. Turini has been teaching orchestra and general music since 2007. He earned a Bachelors in Music Education from Eastern Michigan University and a Masters Degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University. Mr. Turini lives in Chicago and enjoys spending time with his dog, Murphy.
